Instead of doing the weekly food shop i drove down to pick my friend up and take her down to Looe.  Both of us needed a bit of a “pick me up” and found ourselves at a loose end at the same time.  The sun decided to shine and it was in fact quite warm.  Looe is a lovely fishing village.  There were quite a few families and holiday makers taking advantage of the weather.

Mums and Dads were sitting with their children on the harbour wall dangling the fishing line over the side trying to catch crabs.  What an idyllic scene.

We wandered around the narrow streets and enthused about buying a property and turning into a B & B or even renting it out as a holiday cottage (we can dream cant we!)

We rounded off the afternoon by sitting in the cafe on the sea front and eating a Cornish Cream Tea – i will pay for that later on in the week when i stand on the scales i am sure.  Never the less it went down a treat and we did walk around for a while so im justified in thinking i will have lost the weight already.

Unfortunately we had to return home and to the real world.  I hadnt done the food shopping so there was no tea waiting for me – i managed to put together a salad – healthy or what!

I went out for a meal on Friday Night with a couple of friends from work to say goodbye and good luck to Hazel who is leaving work to have a baby.  The evening was quite pleasant however the food and place was not all that good.  I wont be going again!  After the meal i ventured out into town to meet up with some more work colleagues and had an enjoyable time going from pub to pub and ending up in Flares.  Flares is always busy and i really enjoy the music – which is golden but  olden  (a bit like me!).  I have had to pay for being out and about till the early hours of this morning though and have spent nearly all afternoon lounging around the house in my pj’s and watching “girly” movies and snoozing.

My hubby was out for most of the morning playing golf and my son was away playing football – so the house was quiet.  The golf match was won so my hubby is well pleased about that as the competition is a National one and the main prize should he get to the final is an all expnses paid trip to Portugal!  my son lost his last match of the season but was ok about it as they are no longer going to be relegated as they won the match mid-week against Falmouth.  His season like Argyles is now over.

The next season will start in August but he and his fiancee will be away on a 3 month holiday around the world. They are going to India and the Far East and New Zealand and finally New York.  Then next August they are getting married in Bali – what a fantastic venue and i cant wait.

The Long and Winding Road that leads to your door. Oh Paul ……………

The last day of the season for Plymouth Argyle – and thankfully they didn’t need a result in order to remain in the Championship for another season.  It was a poor game with very little atmosphere from the Argyle faithful.  On the other hand  fans were keeping an ear out for the results elsewhere in the division and  they certainly helped let the players know the results.  We did take the lead and were playing quite well for about 30 minutes however that didn’t last and we slipped up and let Barnsley back in to draw level and then even let them take the lead and that was the final result 2 1 to the visiting side!

The sun shone down on Home Park for the last day and we now have to wait until August to start all over again.  I did renew my season ticket and would probably have renewed it even if we had got relegated!

Barnsley are now safe for another year too as the results went their way.  The police were out in force with dog handlers and helicopters at the ready but on the whole i don’t think there was any crowd trouble at the end – might have been another story if the results hadn’t gone Barnsleys way.

dsc002071dsc001961dsc002171To end off my weeks holiday i visited my friend and her husband for a meal and a drink. We spent a very pleasant morning this morning visiting the attractions that were in the Saltash Town today to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Royal Albert Bridge.

We were hoping to see a Steam train go through Saltash Station but unfortunately this didnt happen as the Fire Bucket malfunctioned and we were left high and dry so to speak.

Nonetheless we ventured up through Saltash Town and visited the museum which is well worth a visit and is free entry. It is only small but the displays are really interesting. Janet reliable informed me that this was the first time she had visited the museum and that she was amazed with what was on her own doorstep!!

We walked up through the Town and looked at the stalls, listened to the band and watched the Morris dancers.

I was going to go back this evening to watch the Firework display but due to an overindullgence (last night)is that a word?) i am staying in doors tonight dsc001981

Day out continued

s73025171After having a walk through Tavistock i thought i had better head on home.  Before i actually got home however, i passed the signpost for Lopwell.  It is years since i last went there so i followed the signposts.  I thought i was heading towards Lopwell Dam but ended up somewhere else – very nice though!

Hailstones on my cars73025111s73025122I decided to take a little ride out to Tavistock today. To start with the heavens opened and i was subjected to driving in a downpour of hailstones – which is quite difficult actually! As can be seen by the photo – they were quite big and settled on my car. I popped into Tesco at Roborough for a light lunch and then decided to head out towards Tavistock. By the time i came out and got back in the car the sun was out and it was such a different day. However the sky was a funny colour – quite threatening to be honest. Managed to get to Tavistock avoiding any more rain and parked up and headed to the indoor market. I love taking my time looking around the stalls. Didn’t find anything that took my fancy on the stalls today so ventured out into the streets of Tavistock. There i looked in most of the shop windows and took photos of the ones that caught my eye. They are so individual – not like Plymouth shops.

St Andrews ChurchColourful jewels?Flowers for SaleOn my way home from work last Friday i came across a Farmers Market – which was very colourful.  I didn’t have my camera with me but used my mobile phone instead.  Having the sun shine is so much nicer than the Wednesday downpour of rain which caused flooding right through the city centre.
