The last day of the season for Plymouth Argyle – and thankfully they didn’t need a result in order to remain in the Championship for another season. It was a poor game with very little atmosphere from the Argyle faithful. On the other hand fans were keeping an ear out for the results elsewhere in the division and they certainly helped let the players know the results. We did take the lead and were playing quite well for about 30 minutes however that didn’t last and we slipped up and let Barnsley back in to draw level and then even let them take the lead and that was the final result 2 1 to the visiting side!
The sun shone down on Home Park for the last day and we now have to wait until August to start all over again. I did renew my season ticket and would probably have renewed it even if we had got relegated!
Barnsley are now safe for another year too as the results went their way. The police were out in force with dog handlers and helicopters at the ready but on the whole i don’t think there was any crowd trouble at the end – might have been another story if the results hadn’t gone Barnsleys way.
